| 07/01/2005: Signature Properties has provided a schedule for concrete pouring
activities at their 288 3rd Street site. Expect to see the foundation slab
poured on 7/14 and 7/21, and their tower crane to be errected at the start of August. The six
levels of construction will then take about one month each starting mid July and ending mid-January 2006.
Tower Lofts residents will say goodbye to their downtown view in September and October. |
| 06/22/2005: Two new documents have been added relating to the Oak to Ninth development proposal.
The first from Naomi Schiff is a presentation of alternative proposals for the development which include some interesting re-routing
of Embarcadero to enhance public access to the waterfront. The second is a study of how the Ninth Avenue
terminal could be re-used adaptively instead of being mostly demolished. It sites many other projects
that successfully utilized existing large waterfront buildings, including the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco.

Period Impact Management Plan for the 288 Third St project
(formerly 300 Harrison). |
| 05/25/2005: By popular demand here is the URL for the webcam
that is facing the 288 3rd St construction site: jlda.org/webcam.
The webcam shows only a still image which is taken every minute
between 7am and 7pm. The images are being used to create a
timelapse movie of the entire construction project showing 30
minutes of activity per 1 second of of movie or to put it another
way, speed up 1,800 times! A sample segment of one week of
excavation is available for download

| 05/05/2005: In repsonse to the 5/4/05 community meeting Webcor
have provided JLDA with their construction management plan and
construction schedule for the 127 Second St project. Also Pulte
Homes have provided us with a traffic control and construction
management plans for the 428 Alice St project (formerly known as
"426 Alice"). Please see the links in the documents
section below. Please note that Signature Properties now appears
to be refering to their 3000 Harrison Street project as 288 3rd
Street. Since the majority of the project faces 3rd we'll be using
that name here too. |
| 04/05/2005: Signature Properties has scheduled a community
meeting to review construction issues for their project at 300
Harrison St. Issues to be discussed will include parking, traffic
and noise impacts. The meeting will be held Monday April 25th
6:00pm at The Egghouse, 229 Harrison St (@ 3rd). Those attending
should first download and review the Construction Period

| 04/01/2005: City staff have
supplied us with the conditions of approval for three of the
development projects currently under way in our neighborhood. 300 Harrison Street, 121-129 2nd Street, and 206 2nd Street. |
| 04/04/2004: Photos of models for
the Jack London Square Redevelopment project are now available online. The FDP massing,
architectural and Harvest Hall models are all included. |
| 02/05/2004: The Jack London
Square Redevelopment Project Final EIR is scheduled to be be
released week of Feb 9. Public meetings have been scheduled:
4 in February and 4 in March, leading to final approval in April!

| 10/28/2003: We just learned today
that BCDC (SF Bay Conservation and Development Commission) is
starting its review of the Jack London Square Redevelopment
Project in just over 2 weeks. And there are LOTS of public
meetings on this project scheduled during November, December, and
January! See below and MARK your calendar! |
| 10/17/2003: The Oakland Tribue
ran a story "Groups try to delay Jack London plans" reporting on requests to extend the
Draft EIR review period from 45 to 90 days. The story cites
Gary Knecht of SoNiC, Jim Falaschi of Ellis Partners, Naomi Schiff
of Oakland Heritage Alliance, and Claudia Cappio on behalf of the
City of Oakland.

| 9/28/2003: The Oakland Tribune
ran a story "Jack London Square plan divides city"
that reported comments made by interested parties after the 9/24
Planning Commission design review meeting.

| The Jack London Square
Redevelopment Project Draft Environment Impact Report is now
available online.
A couple of printed copies are still available from Jack London
Mail (248 Third Street @ Alice). The Oakland Planning Commission
Design Review Committee Staff Report and a map of the site are
available in the documents section below.

| 9/04/2003: The Port of Oakland
has issued a press
release on the sale of 60 acres of land between Oak and 9th
Avenue for a new project which is located adjacent to the Jack
London Square Redevelopment Project. The land was valued at
$34M, but environmental clean up costs were estimated at $16M -
the land will be sold to Oakland Harbor Partners LLC for
$18M. OHP plans to spend over $400M to construct 2000
condominiums and apartments with 20 acres remaining as open space
devoted to "refurbished marinas and a hiking trail". The
sale has yet to be approved by the City Planning Commission and
various local and state oversight groups.
