Very Important JLNA Meeting Discussing New Proposed Buildings in Our Neighborhood

When

Where

Sunday, March 10, 2002 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

This is a very important JLNA meeting where we will be discussing two new proposed buildings in our neighborhood.

The first at 426 Alice Street (across from Fourth Street Lofts) is a proposed
eight-story, 100-foot apartment house that would require demolishing the
existing warehouse that is a primary contributor to the historical Oakland
Warehouse Waterfront District listed on the National Register of Historic
Places.

The second is a very large 179 foot high residential, office and retail
building proposed at Broadway between 2nd and 3rd Streets.

Both buildings will have a strong impact on our neighborhood. The developers
have submitted Draft Environmental Impact Statements that will be discussed
at the City Planning Commission public hearing on Wednesday, March 20, 2002.

JLNA will comment on these proposals and your input and help are needed.
Please mark your calendars. We need a large turn-out at the planning
commission meeting.

Please also plan to attend the JLNA meeting on Sunday, March 10th.

If you'd like to bring refreshments to share at Sunday's meeting, they would
be most appreciated.

Call Robbie Rendahl at 510 465-0840 if you have any questions about the
meeting.

See you Sunday!

Where

Wednesday, March 20, 2002, 6:30 p.m.

The 426 Alice Street Project entails the demolition of an existing approximately 30,000 square foot warehouse that is a contributor to the Waterfront Warehouse Historic District and the new construction of 94 residential units and 9,800 square feet of office space, totaling approximately 138,600 square feet of occupied space.

The proposed project will include the construction of 123 parking spaces and approximately 13,000 square feet of open space. The building would be approximately 85 feet, 4 inches in height at the roofline.

Based on the preliminary project description, it was determined that the project may have significant environmental impacts.
