Community
Gardening in Oakland
A program of the City of Oakland's Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services.
Community Gardening is an Oakland sponsored program serving neighborhood
gardens located throughout the city. At each garden, a diverse and dedicated
group of gardeners -- and youth of all ages -- grow their own organic
vegetables, flowers, herbs, and fruit in 10' x 15' plots.
How You Can Get Involved: Community Gardens depend on recycled
and donated materials. We are looking for the following in-kind donations:
Computer, seeds, fencing materials, tools, benches, picnic tables, recycled
non-treated lumber, display boards.
For more information: Contact the Community Garden Coordinator, Jacoba
van Staveren, Oakland Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Community
Gardens, 1520 Lakeside Drive, Oakland, 94612. (510) 238-2197
